Summary
Prepare for a major in Language and Literature by taking recommended courses to fulfill
the requirements of a transfer degree.
The study of English language and literature helps students to develop a deeper understanding
of individuals, cultures and societies. Through multiple genres, such as poetry, short
stories, essays and novels, students study English language and literature from different
historical time periods and places around the globe to develop a broad understanding
of literary styles and traditions. English programs teach critical thinking, reading
and writing skills to communicate creatively and effectively for a variety of purposes.
The Associate in Arts - Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) is part of Shoreline’s General Transfer program and is designed to meet the first two years of requirements of most four-year degrees.
